Below are some resources I've put together from answering questions about different types of massage, links to products I use and recommend for self care, and more.

Experts estimate that upwards of ninety percent of disease is stress-related. And perhaps nothing ages us faster, internally and externally, than high stress. Massage is an effective tool for managing this stress, which translates into:

  • Decreased anxiety.

  • Enhanced sleep quality.

  • Greater energy.

  • Improved concentration.

  • Increased circulation.

  • Reduced fatigue.

Massage can also help specifically address a number of health issues:

  • Alleviate low-back pain and improve range of motion.

  • Assist with shorter, easier labor for expectant mothers and shorten maternity hospital stays.

  • Ease medication dependence.

  • Enhance immunity by stimulating lymph flow—the body's natural defense system.

  • Exercise and stretch weak, tight, or atrophied muscles.

  • Help athletes of any level prepare for, and recover from, strenuous workouts.

  • Increase joint flexibility.

  • Lessen depression and anxiety.

  • Promote tissue regeneration, reducing scar tissue and stretch marks.

  • Pump oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs, improving circulation.

  • Reduce postsurgery adhesions and swelling.

  • Reduce spasms and cramping.

  • Relax and soften injured, tired, and overused muscles.

  • Release endorphins—amino acids that work as the body's natural painkiller.

  • Relieve migraine pain.

Rock Tape:  A special kind of tape known as kinesiology tape. First used by acupuncturists and chiropractors in Japan, today kinesiology tape is used by practitioners throughout the world to treat injuries and improve sports performance.  I will work with you to provide the correct taping application for your needs, if you would like to experience the benefits of taping.  Quite often, I can do a quick tape job at the end of a session for no additional charge.  If all you want is someone with experience to tape you, sessions start at $15 and vary based on the need.

Trigger Point Performance Therapy:  Products and education to help athletes and non-athletes treat a variety of issues from home!  I host small groups or one-on-one sessions to educate about these products, how to use them and get on your way to healthier muscles and less injuries!

If you are a fitness professional and would like to offer a class to your members, please let me know!

Myofascial Decompression (Cupping):

I use a couple different types of massage cups to bring about decompression of your stuck tissue.  We talk about which might be best for you.  Sometimes, I mix them in with a standard massage.  Other times, I strategically place the cups on the stuck tissue, and have you move to facilitate greater improvements.  Benefits include improved rang of motion and reduced pain.
